Sort It Out - Poster #1

This is poster number one of two that I am using to promote the cause of sorting waste so it can be processed properly. It is part of my media arts final summative.

Sort It Out - Poster #2 with Reflection

Media Arts Final Summative Poster #2: Sort It Out

This particular poster employs my tagline, “Sort It Out” in a way that utilizes the rule of thirds by dispersing centred text into three even horizontal sections of the picture plane. I took advantage of two simple universal symbols and displayed them in complementary colours to get my basic message across to the audience without the use of words. I used a very subdued monochromatic background (of an orange hue) with an interesting texture to help the brightly coloured symbols in the foreground of my poster really “pop”. I placed a faint image of fluffy organic-shaped clouds along the middle third of the poster to contrast the geometric shapes in my background. I then used a soft, translucent brush stroke (again very subdued) along the middle third of the picture plane in a complementary blue hue to vary things up and work with the orange in my background. I faded out my tagline slightly, and added a call to action in smaller but darker text between words of my tagline for an interesting but effective textual arrangement.

Overall, I am very pleased with the result of my poster (and other assignments) and believe I have progressed greatly in media arts over the school year.

Idioteque

I love Radiohead's music. Final Cut is fun to work with. Here's what happens when the two come together.
